Hi, I’m Nichole. I started this blog because, honestly, my initiation into motherhood was shocking. At least, it was shocking for me. But then I got to talking with other women, and it turns out that there is a lot that nobody tells you. And most of it isn’t good.
I am writing this blog because I truly and deeply believe that women deserve better. I truly believe that there are some people out there who sincerely want to do better by the mothers of their children, but maybe they haven’t yet seen what that looks like.
I have heard more than enough excuses for neglecting women, mothers especially. I am here to be a voice saying that’s not okay.
We deserve compassionate, thoughtful, competent, and loving care. We deserve adequate time to rest and recover from birth, to learn to feed and care for our babies, and to get to know the new normal. We deserve partners who are prepared for the new life and have educated themselves on the needs of a person who is recovering from pregnancy and birth. We deserve peace. We deserve respect. We deserve real love, the kind that is an action and not just flowery words on a greeting card.
I am here to tell the world exactly what that looks like, what it doesn’t look like, and how to get there.
